Maybe, you are experiencing discouragement over your 2006 Taxes due. Either, you are having to pay too much or you aren’t getting back what you think you should.
I can imagine, now that we are into the fourth month of a new year, that you have discouragement due to some things not going the way you think they should have. I want to challenge you with a key to overcoming your discouragement.
In Luke 5, after fishing all night, Jesus came up to Simon Peter and his fishing partners while they were fishless and cleaning the seaweed from their nets. Imagine the discouragement of not having anything to sell at the fish market. Imagine you can’t provide food for other people and you can’t take care of your family, either. On this day, you have failed.
Have you ever been this discouraged? I want to encourage you with this thought – Failure is never final unless you quit. Jesus stepped into the failure and discouragement of those fishermen and asked them if He could get into their boat. Here is the key to getting out of your discouragement – let Jesus have your “boat of discouragement”. Let Jesus sit – enthrone Himself in the midst of your discouragement.
In Luke 5, the word for “sit” in Greek comes from a root word that we get our English word cathedral. Here’s the point: Jesus wants to enthrone Himself in the midst of all of our discouragement. Every obstacle that you have is a opportunity for God to overcome, IF you let go and let God.
When you let Jesus have your discouragement, He will turn it around for your good and His Glory! When Jesus got in the boat and had the fishermen put down their nets again, they caught a catch that financed a ministry of “fishing for men” with Jesus for three and a half years! All it takes is just one word from Jesus to turn your situation around.
How would you like for Jesus to turn your discouragement around in such a way that it fills up your nets to overflowing?
Let go and let God!
